As needed, we use advanced diagnostic modalities such as computerized jaw analysis, sonography, electromyography (EMG) or CT scans so we can evaluate your jaw function, muscle activity and TMJ health more thoroughly.
The TMJ treatment process is different for everyone. We start with a comprehensive exam to find the root cause of the problem and often address the issue with a multidisciplinary approach, bringing other specialists on board to decide the best treatment plan.

For the first 3 months we focus on non-invasive techniques to reprogram and relax the jaw muscles using functional oral appliances. Once the TMJ symptoms are alleviated, the patient has the option to use the appliances long term, transition into orthodontic treatment for long term stability or receive restorative treatment as needed.

To satisfy her passion of helping suffering patients overcome chronic pain, Dr. Motlagh has dedicated the last two decades to focusing on researching and treating patients with occlusion related TMJ problems.

After graduating from OHSU School of Dentistry, Dr. Motlagh sought extensive training in post-doctorate institutes such as the Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, Spear Institute & Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies.

As a Fellow of International College of Cranio-mandibular Orthopedics, Dr. Motlagh's passion for offering a conservative approach to TMJ disorder treatment lead to the research and development of a patented treatment protocol that helps realign the bite and the jaw non-surgically & by relaxing the jaw muscles, ultimately alleviating the majority of TMJ related pain and headaches. Dr. Motlagh enjoys collaborating with her colleagues through study clubs and seminars and enjoys helping her patients while practicing dentistry in Portland Oregon.

Dr. Tennant is passionate about helping her patients breathe better for improved overall health. For the past 2 decades, she has put the primary focus of her practice on occlusion related Sleep Breathing Disorders. On a mission to help rid the world of Sleep Apnea, Dr. Tennant is on the Clinical Advisory Board of VIVOS® Therapeutics, Inc. Dr. Tennant is now treating people of all ages with a proprietary, non-invasive, nonsurgical treatment option for the treatment of mild to moderate dental sleep apnea, snoring, and sleep-disordered breathing stemming from malocclusion.

Dr. Tennant works closely with specialists in both dentistry and medicine to provide patients with latest options of bio-remodeling to achieve maximally functional upper airways. In order to address the root cause, Dr. Tennant implements a variety of treatment modalities such as the VIVOS® system. By remodeling the upper jaw and the mid-face, she helps patients breath and swallow more efficiently. Heidi has been in the dental field for over 20 years and with Aesthetic Smiles since 2010. She is passionate about dentistry but equally as passionate about connecting with her patients. She is an instructor of the dental sciences at Portland Community College and is currently pursuing her Masters of Education degree at Oregon State University. She has 3 sons, Evan, Romeo, and Enzo. She enjoys traveling, cooking, poetry, academia, long walks and quality time with her family and friends. She admits she is a little bit OCD and feels unapologetically that this trait benefits her in her position as a dental hygienist who always wants to do a stellar job clinically. With A dental assistant certification from Concord Career Institute, Jamie has working in everything from pediatrics to Oral Surgery, cosmetic dentistry, TMJ, sleep dentistry and surgical Implant placing. She is X- Ray certified and FODA certified . she enjoys working at Aesthetic smiles and witnessing patients' lives changing for better every day.

Mayyadah worked as a cosmetic dentist for over 13 years in the middle east before moving to the united states. Her passion in dentistry lead her to working as a dental assistant at Aesthetic smiles so she can learn more about TMJ and sleep dentistry from the experts. She is currently studying to be licensed as a dentist in the United States.

Katie received her dental assisting certification in 2015 .Her passion for helping others and creating a new dynamic for all patients led her to discover her curiosity of Sleep Apnea and breathing wellness . In her free time Katie enjoys Oregeon Ducks football and traveling .

Hygienist
Molly has been a dental hygienist since 2017 and joined our team in November 2022. She got her Bachelor of Science degree from Oregon Institute of Technology while playing soccer for the college team. After spending the last 5 years in Japan for her husband's career, she is happy to be back home in the PNW. She loves animals, reading, going to happy hour with friends, and all things outdoors- especially hiking and snowboarding. Her favorite thing about being a hygienist is connecting with patients and helping create confident smiles.

Practice Manager
Kauser has been in dentistry for over 17 years, with experience in general, cosmetic, and orthodontic dentistry. When asked about her career Kauser says, ‘Dentistry choose me’. When she witnessed firsthand the ability to create beautiful smiles and help people achieve better self-esteem, she was hooked! One of her goals is to see that our patients receive the oral health care they deserve and require. Kauser has called Oregon (home) for the past 30 years. She enjoys meeting and helping patients feel comfortable at Aesthetic Smiles. Her smile and attitude radiate genuine care and hospitality.
Kauser and her husband have been married for over 7 years. Together, they have raised 2 children (twins). The family enjoys camping, exploring the outdoors, and pretty much everything Bravo! Kauser loves to be creative with her culinary skills. She creates outstanding meals for family and friends.
